Sustainability

At Almirall, sustainability is more than a commitment; it is a core pillar that drives our mission to create long-term value and transform our patients’ world by helping them to realise their hopes and dreams for a healthy life.

Sustainability governance

Our sustainability efforts are overseen by a dedicated Sustainability Committee, which reports directly to the Management Board. This committee ensures that our actions are aligned with our corporate sustainability strategy approved by the Board of Directors and the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The supervision and coordination of all business activities related to sustainability fall under the auspices of Almirall's CEO, with supervision from the Audit Commission. The CEO proposes the strategic lines and corporate plans regarding sustainability, establishes the necessary management and control measures, and reviews programmes and initiatives. The operational functions are delegated to the Sustainability Committee.

Thinking in generations

We have a long-term view of our contributions to dermatology and society. As a family-owned business, we think in generations, not quarters. We act decisively when we see opportunities to improve the lives of patients and dermatologists. We are committed to society and to achieving our goals advocating for a continuous improvement journey in sustainability.

Act4Impact: our 2030 sustainability strategy

Our “Act4Impact 2030 Sustainability Strategy” embedded in Almirall’s ambition to become a global leader in medical dermatology, is built on four strategic pillars – “Planet”, “People”, “Patients” and “Partners” – and is guided by our unwavering “Principles”. By reducing our environmental footprint, fostering responsible partnerships, and prioritizing the well-being of our employees and patients, we are dedicated to making a positive impact.

Guided by the “United Nations 2030 Agenda” and underpinning key Sustainable Development Goals, we strive to make a meaningful and lasting difference in society and the environment.

The strategy consists of 20 strategic lines of action, each monitored by indicators and targets to ensure robust and comparable monitoring over time. Through this comprehensive approach, Almirall strives to make a meaningful and lasting difference in society and the environment while upholding its core principles of transparency, responsibility, ethics and compliance.

Our contribution to the SDGs

The 2030 Agenda

The United Nations 2030 Agenda provided a path to progress, setting out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets with the aim of transforming our global development model by 2030. At Almirall, we want to play our part in meeting these Goals and we are members of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative to implement universal sustainability principles. Almirall supports the mission of the UN Global Compact to mobilise a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want.

We have conducted an in-depth analysis of the goals and targets that we can make the most productive contribution to. We evaluate our contribution to the SDGs by connecting them to our KPIs, targets and future strategic direction.

Measuring our progress

At Almirall, our ambition to create a positive impact is reflected in our Sustainability Policy and brought to life through our sustainability strategy, which outlines a roadmap based on five strategic pillars to address major global challenges.

This vision translates into concrete actions and ambitious goals for 2030, enabling us to evaluate and communicate our progress with transparency.

Sustainability Dashboard: transparency and commitment

Our Sustainability Dashboard outlines the key objectives approved by the Board of Directors in 2024. These objectives not only guide our strategy but are also directly linked to the variable compensation of all members of Almirall’s Management Board, reinforcing our institutional commitment to sustainability.
