As Pride Month comes to a close, we are reminded that the conversation around diversity, inclusion, and belonging should continue every day of the year. At Almirall, we believe that understanding the full patient experience means looking beyond the condition itself and recognizing the unique perspectives and identities that shape each person's journey.
To mark Pride Month, we talked to members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are living with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) and are part of the HS Connect community. Through their personal reflections, Rae Adams, Destineé Spurrel, and Cassandra Stand share their experiences of identity, visibility, and living with a chronic condition.
Their stories highlight the importance of feeling seen, heard, and respected. They remind us that healthcare goes beyond physical symptoms and that supporting wellbeing requires listening to the diverse experiences of the people we serve.
At Almirall, our commitment to medical dermatology is rooted in a holistic approach to care—one that values every individual and fosters greater understanding, empathy, and inclusion. By amplifying patient voices and creating space for meaningful conversations, we can help build a more supportive future for everyone living with skin diseases.

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions worldwide, affecting millions of people across all ages and backgrounds. Yet, its impact extends far beyond the visible symptoms, often influencing self-confidence, emotional well-being, and daily life.
During Acne Awareness Month, we want to recognize the profound effect that acne and other dermatological conditions can have on those living with them. Behind every diagnosis is a unique personal journey, reminding us that skin health is about much more than what can be seen on the surface.
At Almirall, we are committed to advancing medical dermatology and deepening the scientific understanding of skin diseases. Equally important, we believe in listening to the real experiences of patients to help foster a more holistic approach to care—one that considers both physical and emotional wellbeing.
By increasing awareness and supporting the dermatology community, we aim to contribute to a future where people living with skin conditions feel understood, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.

At Almirall, improving the lives of patients goes hand in hand with protecting the environment we all share. This World Environment Day, we want to reinforce our commitment to taking decisive climate action on our path to becoming a net-zero emissions company by 2050.
But 2050 is built on the choices we make today. We are already making tangible progress through real, measurable actions. Our operational sites across Spain and Germany have been running on 100% renewable electricity since 2018, and in 2025 we reduced our direct greenhouse gas emissions by 22%, keeping us firmly on track to achieve our 50% reduction target by 2030.
We are also strengthening our approach to water management, having already reduced our consumption by 20% from our baseline, with the ambition to reach a 25% reduction by 2030. These efforts are helping us build greater resilience in the face of climate-related risks.
Our progress has been externally recognised, with Almirall named among Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 by the Financial Times and Statista for the third consecutive year.
Every action we take brings us one step closer to a more sustainable future — for our patients, our communities and the planet we all share.

During Hidradenitis Suppurativa Awareness Week, we want to shed light on a chronic, painful and often misunderstood condition that goes far beyond the skin. Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a non-contagious inflammatory disease characterized by painful nodules, abscesses and, in some cases, scarring, which can significantly impact patients’ quality of life and daily routines.
Beyond its physical symptoms, HS carries a substantial emotional and psychological burden. Persistent pain, together with stigma and a lack of awareness, can affect sleep, confidence, mental health and overall well-being, often making the invisible impact of the disease as challenging as the visible one. For many people living with HS, managing the condition also means navigating uncertainty and the feeling of not being fully understood.
Raising awareness is essential to improving understanding, encouraging earlier diagnosis and reducing stigma. Greater knowledge of the disease can help patients seek the care they need and support a more timely and accurate diagnosis, while also fostering a more empathetic and informed society.
At Almirall, we remain committed to advancing innovation in medical dermatology and to developing solutions that make a meaningful difference for people living with HS, with a clear focus on addressing both the physical and emotional impact of the disease.

We’re proud to be recognised for the third consecutive year as one of Europe’s Climate Leaders by the Financial Times and Statista. This recognition reflects the consistent effort we’ve made to turn environmental ambition into tangible results, embedding sustainability into the core of our business.
Over the past years, we have continued to strengthen how we measure and manage our environmental impact, integrating sustainability considerations across decision-making processes, operations, and innovation. This ongoing work allows us not only to track progress more effectively, but also to identify new opportunities to reduce our footprint and contribute positively to the communities and ecosystems we are part of.
Driving real progress means going beyond commitments—it requires measurable action, long-term vision, and continuous improvement. That’s why we remain focused on aligning our corporate strategy with science-based goals, ensuring that every step we take contributes to a more sustainable future.
This milestone is not just about recognition, but about reinforcing our responsibility to keep moving forward.

On AK Global Day, we launched Skin Scouts, a global awareness initiative designed to reinforce the importance of early detection in medical dermatology. The campaign encourages everyone to look closer at their skin and recognize early warning signs that often go unnoticed, helping transform awareness into timely and meaningful action.
Actinic keratosis is a common condition that can act as an early warning sign of skin cancer. Too often, these lesions are mistaken for harmless skin changes linked to ageing or sun exposure. That is why, on AK Global Day, we proudly launch the #AKSkinScouts initiative to remind people that paying attention early can make a critical difference for long-term skin health.
Built around three simple steps — observe, detect, and act — Skin Scouts aims to empower the general public with practical knowledge. The campaign encourages regular skin observation, greater awareness of rough or scaly patches in sun-exposed areas, and a better understanding of key risk factors such as chronic sun exposure and skin type.
By combining education, awareness, and a clear call to action, Skin Scouts promotes a proactive approach to skin health and shared responsibility. Through engaging content and simple gestures, the initiative invites everyone to sharpen their focus, join the movement, and help spread a message that can lead to earlier detection and better outcomes.
