Almirall receives the company rating of “Excellent” from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade

• The PROFARMA programme classifies companies depending on their excellence and encourages competiveness in the pharmaceutical industry

Barcelona - 15 September 2010.- The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce’s PROFORMA programme has rated Almirall an excellent company, including in it Group A of the scale.  The classification recognised research, employment and production in Almirall in Spain, where the company has innovative infrastructures that enable it to take on future challenges in the pharmaceutical research field. An outstanding example is the R&D Centre in Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona), which was inaugurated in 2006 and includes cutting-edge technology.

The PROFORMA programme aims to promote modernisation of the pharmaceutical sector and strengthen activities that offer a greater added value, by investing in new technologies and industrial plants, and boosting research.

In 2009 Almirall allotted to R&D 13.1% of its income and 550 people. It is also the third Spanish company that invests most in R&D, after Telefónica and Indra, and the leading Spanish pharmaceutical in the European ranking of the 1,000 companies that invest most in research and development  (2008 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard).
