1. Act4Impact – Almirall's 2030 Sustainability Strategy

Sustainability isn’t just an idea, it’s an action, going deeper than what we see to create an impact we can all feel.
Being sustainable has always played an essential role in everything we do at Almirall. From reducing our carbon footprint and better covering our patient’s needs to feeding innovation and nurturing our team. For us, sustainability is more than just a commitment: it’s a pillar to create long-term value.

Like every journey, our roadmap keeps evolving. “Together we care”, our 2021 – 2023 Sustainability Strategy, was our most recent stop, where we promoted sustainable development, empowered growth, and acted with integrity. With everything we have accomplished, we are ready to go one step further to transform our patients’ worlds and our own. Now is time to raise the bar, increase our ambition, go beyond caring and act for a greater impact.

“Act for impact”, our 2030 Sustainability Strategy, is a foundational factor in our plan to achieve our purpose. It is structured around four strategic pillars – Planet, People, Patients and Partners – and a fifth overarching element – our Principles – which govern our behaviors across all areas of the company. The strategy consists of  20 strategic lines of action, each monitored by indicators and targets to ensure robust and comparable monitoring over time. Through this comprehensive approach, Almirall strives to make a meaningful and lasting difference in society and the environment while upholding its core principles of transparency, responsibility, ethics, and compliance.

2. Our contribution to the SDGs

The 2030 Agenda

The United Nations 2030 Agenda provided a path to progress, setting out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets with the aim of transforming our global development model by 2030. At Almirall, we want to play our part in meeting these Goals and we are members of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative to implement universal sustainability principles. Almirall supports the mission of the UN Global Compact to mobilise a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want.

We have conducted an in-depth analysis of the goals and targets that we can make the most productive contribution to. We evaluate our contribution to the SDGs by connecting them to our KPIs, targets and future strategic direction.

Our Contribution to the SDGs

While we acknowledge that our business impacts all 17 SDGs to varying degrees, we have prioritised those where our contribution is most significant and where Almirall has the greatest capacity for impact and action. Aligned with our Noble Purpose, Good Health and wellbeing (SDG 3) is at the heart of our purpose. We have also identified SDG 5, 7, 8, 9, 13, 16 and 17 as priority goals and areas of work.

3. Measuring our progress

Our ambition is reflected in our Sustainability Policy and is developed in our Sustainability Strategy, which sets the roadmap to follow in accordance with the five main pillars, which enable us to address global challenges. This vision cascades down into initiative and goals for 2030, against which we measure our progress.

The Sustainability Dashboard includes a set of targets approved by the Board of Directors in 2024. These targets are linked to the variable remuneration of all Almirall's Management Board members.
