Our policy in occupational risk prevention is a clear indicator of our active involvement in ensuring a risk-free work environment. We are committed to the health and safety of our staff members. This can be seen in our Prevention Policy; an initiative with comprehensive planning and resources to ensure that it is applied effectively

  • We consider occupational risk prevention to be a priority and strategic factor. Almirall's aim is to implement preventive actions as a mainstay in the organisation and to improve these constantly to attain the highest level of health and safety at work in accordance with current legislation and internal standards.

  • We adopt and promote the integration of occupational risk prevention in the daily work process. The principle stems from the observation that optimum productivity is encouraged within a working environment where quality is promoted in synergy with prevention.

  • We provide the whole workforce with training for identifying risks and putting into practice measures to prevent them. In the interests of promoting safe conduct in all activities it is extremely important to provide staff with training and information in this area, as well as appropriate measures and means for preventing any type of hazard.

  • We encourage the participation of our workforce in occupational risk prevention. Our staff's experience and knowledge of tasks they perform contribute greatly to the defining of company prevention programmes.

Occupational risk prevention is an objective shared by the whole company and everyone working in it. Regardless of level or function, everyone is responsible for its compliance. As a result of this joint effort Almirall was awarded in 2007 the prestigious TÜVRheinland certificate which endorses conformity of the Occupational Risk Prevention Management System to the international standard OHSAS 18001:1999. After a thorough assessment that included all its centres and activities in Spain, TÜVRheinland certifies that Almirall continuously applies the latest and most demanding health and safety at work criteria, in excess of current Spanish legislative standards.

In the second annual follow-up audit in 2009, TÜVRheinland certified the successful adapting of the occupational risk prevention management system in Almirall to the new OHSAS 18001:2007 standard. Renewal of this certificate is anticipated for 2010, jointly with the ISO 14001:2004 certification.

At Almirall we are convinced that our colleagues' health and quality of life is also related to a healthy lifestyle. Encouraging a healthy diet in our canteens and installing fitness centres in work centres are examples of company actions with this in mind.
